Comment-Etiquette Policy.

We consider this site our web "home". So we expect our guests to treat our readers and our writers with the same respect as if they were in our physical home. Below, we have outlined our comment policy.  Comments that do not meet the criteria set forth below will not be published (at least, we can't guarantee that they will be!).

• Comments should be within the topic of the article. Please do not post unrelated comments or questions.
• No personal attacks. Disagreements in practices and theories may be discussed on the site. But personal attacks (character attacks), cussing, offensive language and libelous statements are not appropriate and will not be tolerated. We realize that issues can be emotional, but please consider whether your post might be offensive before submitting.
• No advertising or soliciting. We do not usually mind mention of organizations or items in the context of the topic, but please do not post random endorsements which may keep your comment from being posted.
• Please do not post personal information about you, your child, your case, etc. We do not want your case jeopardized nor your privacy.
• News Sources: If you have new information to share, we request that you email us directly. We validate all news sources, news items AND our source's qualifications to provide such information. If you are unwilling to identify yourself privately to us or your sources, we cannot use your information NOR will we allow you to post your information via comments.
Agendas/Calls to Action: Comments that can be considered Calls to Action are generally not allowed without permission from Guatadopt prior to posting. If they originate from another site, please include the link to the site. Please do not post announcements from your agencies or attorneys.
• We validate all information that we post with contacts in Guatemala (or wherever necessary). If you are commenting on our post and adding what your agency told you, please state clearly that you received it from your agency/attorney, etc. If you feel it is contradictory, please just state that the information you received is different from what has been posted.
• Accurate Representation - We do not require parents to reveal their identity publically. However, we expect that all commenters are posting in an honest fashion. Mis-representation or fraudulent postings are unacceptable.
• Please provide a valid email when posting. These are not displayed publicly to minimize spam and protect privacy. However, on occasion we try to contact readers about their posts privately for clarification. We do not release any information to outside sources.  If we cannot reach you at any time via the email you have provided, your comment may be removed or remain unpublished. 
• Spam/Inappropriate Content Comments: All Comments have to be approved by our writers before being posted on the site. Because of the ever-changing tactics of spammers and the filters in place to catch them, there are times posts may be accidentally filtered out (by the software). If this happens to you, please just contact us via email.
• COMMENTS ARE AT THE DISCRETION OF GUATADOPT: We reserve the right to decide what is appropriate content for our site and to update our rules as we see fit.
• If you have come to our site to berate or insult our readers (or writers), you can bet we will NOT post your comments.

Generally, we will try to contact you if we are rejecting a post.  Please also remember that your hosts are volunteer parents. We do not sit at our computers 24/7 to approve posts and answer email. We do make mistakes! If you feel that we have misjudged your email (or you are wondering why it was not posted), please contact us via email.
