The embedded document is what your "legal" rep. receives when a previo (kickout) is issued in regards to a case file. We received two! One was a correction requirement on the Family Court Social Worker report or homestudy. The second being our lack of pre-approval, which we expected. Since no previos are from "our" end, we are feeling a bit relieved. Feliciano already has the one previo adjusted, and we are anxiously waiting on pre-approval. Our DNA match of 99.99% was mailed to us on February 12th, so we are hoping it was sent to the Embassy around the same date. Our estimation is about 20 business days for pre-approval. Once we receive the much anticipated email notifying us of our pre-approval, we will be resubmitted. From submission to first review was approximately two-weeks, which we feel was pretty quick. Hopefully we will not "sit" for an extended period of time on someone's desk. We are keeping our fingers crossed for an April or May pick-up trip!!
Thanks for posting this it is helpful to "see" it. We got DNA around the same time and are waiting for our PA. I don't know if we entered PGN yet, our US contact is in Guatemala now. Hope we get good news when she comes back.
Posted by: erin at February 19, 2007 07:07 AMI thank you for sharing info in the Previo. I have been asking my caseworker the same questions for a few weeks.
I had been notified 1/8 that my case was in PGN and that it would be 3-6 weeks - imagine my disapointment when I was told on 2/8 that it was a previo for a mistake on thier side. Waiting - once again.
Thanks for the information. We are in PGN now since the end of January and are waiting to hear.We have our preapproval, dna, etc so all we need is the OK from PGN and then our pink. The waiting is the worst. Do you know what the standard wait is to hear from PGN oneway or the other?
Good luck
Posted by: Victoria at February 20, 2007 09:29 AMWhy was your case submitted to PGN before you had pre-approval? I thought that was a requirement.
Posted by: Kimberly at February 20, 2007 11:06 AMErin,
Your US contact wouldn't happen to be Mary L. cause our US contact is in Guatemala too attending an adoption conference. Just curious. Thanks a lets keep all of our fingers cross.....feels like we are a nations in lye and wait for the BIG decision.
I have been in PGN since Dec. 1st! Aie carumba. Although things shut down for a month for the holidays. Haven't heard a peep. Is no news, good news? I am not sure. Fingers crossed we sail thru soon.
Posted by: christianne at February 20, 2007 07:36 PMWe received our DNA results on January 12 and still have no pre-approval yet. I was told that the embassy is taking 30 to 45 days to give approvals.
Posted by: Louise at February 20, 2007 09:53 PMNo we had pre approval before our case went into PGN.
Posted by: Victoria at February 21, 2007 10:38 AMCongrats on getting a fast review by PGN! We're waiting on PA to enter (laywer won't submit without it), and had our match on 1/24. Unfortunately it looks like the embassy has been taking a little longer than usual to issue PAs lately, so I hope ours and yours come very soon.
I for some reason can't find the previo document. Am I just being technologically illiterate? I'd be interested in seeing it.
Posted by: Tina Edmondson at February 22, 2007 04:26 PMSorry, Victoria... I was asking Troy, who posted the previo. I have seen postings on various boards by people who were KO'd because they submitted without pre-approval, and I guess my concern is that files that aren't PGN-ready are basically taking up space in line ahead of files that were submitted as required, with all necessary documents...
Posted by: Kimberly at February 23, 2007 06:28 PMWe received our first previo yesterday, the day after we returned from Guatemala to visit our baby. The previo stated that our homestudy needed to state that we had chosen a guardian in case of our death, BUT our homestudy does state that. I'm hoping it can be worked out quickly. Does anyone know the time frame from getting out of PGn to getting a pink slip. I am thinking of going down there as soon as we are out of PGN (crossing fingers here) and keeping the baby but I'm scared it could drag on and on! Anyone can help?
Posted by: Cheryl D at February 25, 2007 10:45 PMThis is my first time posting a comment, although I have visited the site many times. We have been in PGN since mid September. We had our DNA results and pre-approval. But we have had FOUR previos, the most recent being in early Feb. None of these previos were on our end. We're back in PGN, but I just don't see an end in site. Our baby boy is 9 months, and we got the referral when he was just one month.
Posted by: Gina D at March 1, 2007 08:32 PMWe have been told that it is taking others with our agency 8 weeks for the pre-approval letter to be sent out. We are six weeks into the process and holding our breath. The general adoption news re Guatemala is so mixed right now but we are being optimistic.
Posted by: Jonathan R at March 3, 2007 11:28 PMHi Gina,
We have been in PGN since mid January. We also had our DNA results, and pre approval. We were there in November to see our son. We have not heard anything since entering PGN. We got our referral when our son was 2 weeks old. He is now 7 1/2 months. The waiting is hard enough but with everything going on its getting harder.
We finally received our preapproval on March 1. We were told they had received the DNA results January 17.
