The Department of State posted a statement in support of interim procedures for adoptions. CLICK HERE TO READ
***Note: I believe this announcement was due to many, many parents calling DOS asking to clarify their position. Good work, troops!***
Posted by Kelly at June 13, 2003 08:59 PMWhat exactly does this mean? Will Guatemala do as the DOS is asking? What will we be waiting to hear next?
I can't find the example letter that adoption families can use as a help to make their letters to send to our reps. Can you tell me where we can find that please.
Thanks for the information I watch the site each day just hoping for more good information.
Thanks so much
Judy
If I have an adoption in process (started in May) should I expect to encounter problems? I read these new postings and am very concerened. Does anyone know what is going to take place? Based on what I have read I am very frightened about the process collapsing.
Posted by: Janet Parker at June 14, 2003 09:26 PMWe just started to get all our papers Authencitaed, will it be for nothing we want to adopt from Guatemala not from a different place do you think they will suspend adoptions?
Posted by: Noria at June 15, 2003 12:26 PMWe are stuck in PGN after spending time with our beautiful to-be daughter in Guatemala. I don't understnd everything that is happening. If the PGN makes a decision to suspend and embrace the Hague standards does this mean all adoptions pending in Guatemala are basically terminated? What will it mean for people so far into the process like this? Does anyone know? Thanks.
