This is EXACTLY what all of us who know the TRUTH about what a Guatemalan adoption can be like have been hoping for! I just watched the video and now have happy tears streaming down my face. Kudos to this reporter for going the extra mile to show the full story of this happy occasion in the Huber's lives as well as the bigger story of all of the children who need homes still in Guatemala. We should all try to write to the news station who published this to thank them...

All I say say is WOW!I am so excited for Luis and his family. It was a wonderful video and story. I hope it opens eyes that are shut to the process we all are patinelty, for the most part, are going through. I cried and cried because it touched me so much. Now I can't wait even more to bring my bundle home.

Great story! We are still waiting for our little one. Is anyone else still being hung up in PGN?
We have been in for the 2nd time for almost 6 weeks! I have heard most cases are taking about 3 weeks. Are others still having problems?

This is a wonderful, uplifting and encouraging story. We also are waiting for our daughter(now 11 months old). We were wondering if there is anyone out there that went through or are going through the Embassy "case investigation". We are stuck in this stage and they are not giving us a time line on when they will release our case. We would LOVE to hear from anyone and possibly find out if there is anyone WE can contact, e-mail or write to get answers to these questions--That would be a blessing!! To all of you still waiting, those traveling, those just starting into the adoption process and those whose little angels are home with you, our family is praying for you. Thanks for taking the time to read this and we hope to hear from some of you!! God Bless!!!! D&A

We are in Guatemala now and coming home on Friday morning. I just want to tell everyone that is waiting, that we have been here three weeks and it has been such an adventure. We were coming to a hearing for our daughter and son came out of PGN so we decided to come on and stay until he was ready. We didn't care where we spent our maternity leave as long as it was with him.

Our case started in Dec of 2002 with a referral of two children on the 20th. At 15 months of waiting, we were beginning to give up only because of our expectations. Our son turned 15 months in March. After being here in the country and viewing it from ground level and not just a hotel stay of three days, we have a whole new appreciation of Guatemala.

We have been staying in a private home and with other beautiful Guatemalan people. They have shared their hearts and home with us. We have seen so much more of Guatemala than ever expected.

In the beginning we wanted to be parents and we knew that we would be good parents. I know now that we were putting ourselves first and what we wanted. Whether our children are 4 months--like we thought- or 14 years old, they are given the promise of a better life.

So many people have blessed us and thanked us for helping one of Guatemala's children have a future in the United States. We feel so blessed and humbled with what we have and will wait on our daughter with no hurry or expectations. We know now that in the end we are all blessed.

Children are God's gift to us, if only for a little while.

Thank you Wendy. What a refreshing message. We are traveling to pick up our son the first week in April. It will be days before his first birthday. I am excited to experience the culture and learn to respect the system that has brought us our child. Hang in there every one that is waiting!

Wendy - beautiful post. My experience was so similar to yours. While in Guatemala, shopkeepers, street vendors and artists, waitresses would all thank us for adopting Edwin so that he would have a better life.
