Law Update

While I don't have a lot detail on this, it appears as though there may be some action on the law proposal today. It is possible that it could be the third reading but apparently might instead be a vote to establish a new commission to study the bill.

On a side note, Guatadopt has recently updated its spam control system. As a result, some comments are not being published immediately as they are being registered along with the spammers. We will get those approved as fast as possible and try to figure out how to keep the spammers out of the comments without impacting genuine comments.

About the spammers:

Yes, we just updated our site. However, we also were hit with some NASTY spam along the way. I would like to have our readers have the freedom to post, but until we figure out a way to keep the nasty spam from dominating the comments, we'll have stomach the delayed comments (waiting for approval).

I apologize for the inconvenience...I hope to have it figured out in the next week!

Thanks for the update - is the vote or "movement" at 2:30 today?

Thank you Kelly. I will look forward to an update when it is received. My fingers are crossed.

Any updates yet on the third reading and/or vote today in Guatemala?
Thanks for keeping us all informed!!

It does NOT appear as though there was a third reading today. I also do not believe that it has been scheduled for next week. There were some meetings today but I do not have exact info at this time as to what the result or intent was...

Thanks Kevin--your updates are greatly appreciated! I am in the early stages of the process to adopt another child from Guatemala (I adopted an infant over a year ago). It is really nerve wracking with all these potential readings and voting but MUCHAS GRACIAS SENOR!!

Kevin, as long as we are on the subject, do you have any information on the new embassy law/embassy rules pertaining to the interview for the embassy on the pick up trip? I was told that it has all changed? Thank you so much for your dedication, it goes appreciated tenfold.

Anything definate about yesterday's action?

Posted by: Kelly at September 30, 2005 04:13 PM

New Embassy Rules: when you get your pink slip, you will now be given an interview appointment date as opposed to you just being able to go whenever you please. I believe the time between the two should be about a week.

Does anyone know where this is at? I'm ready to submit my dossier but I'm very concerned about this proposal because I'm single and if passed would have a major impact on me. I'm anxious to move this along but not sure if I should wait until a next possible vote.
