This post has been retracted. Both organizations (SJI and ASG) are legitimate organizations dedicated to assisting families in need. The post remains for history only. Clarifications in the archives are located at; http://www.guatadopt.com/archives/000496.html
The URL for the original Adoption Supervisors (SJI) is http://www.adoption-supervisors.com. While I do not have personal experience with them, I can say that they are NOT associated with this new copycat organization (the url missing the dash).
I removed over 20 postings connected with the copycat URL and most were supposedly happy families claiming quick exits from PGN with the help of this organization. These were found NOT to be real families from the US. Considering the lack of professional ethics...copying the name Adoption Supervisors, posing as happy families and purposefully redirecting folks to their website...I would stay clear of this other organization. I do not know ANYTHING about them and it could very well be a scam. Guatadopt.com notified SJI of the problem since it is their reputation that is being compromised

Today it has come to our attention that a cooperation which calls itself *ADOPTION SUPERVISORS GUATEMALA* has apparently contacted some of you, with the purposes to confuse you and make you believe this emails would have come from Servicios Jurídicos Integrados. Please, be aware that this cooperation is NOT part of our Law firm, we do not know them and we never have heard about them at all. As we believe you all have noticed, Servicios Jurídicos Integrados does not post nor participate on any list server, much less would we contact clients by obtaining their email address from a list server.

It's pretty sad that there are people out there prying on those of us who are in the process and trying to wait patiently. This is such a stressful process in the first place, none of us need any added stress.

Posted by: ginger at July 23, 2006 06:23 PMKelly,
You can choose to post this or not. I contacted adoptionsupervisors.com and was not contacted by them. They responded to my request for information and were very professional. I was in Guatemala last week and met with the lawyer who is associated with this group and who has been very helpful in my case. He was professional, attentive, responsive and able to validate the information I had from my agency and help fill in the holes where I lacked information. My case has been in the minor's section of PGN since December 2005 and since enlisting their services, my file has been moved from the minor's section and cleared by the director of the minor's section herself. As of last night, my file is finally moving through the normal processes and I feel this group has helped this process. They are able to talk to the right people in PGN and use these contacts and their knowledge of the law to follow this case. I feel so relieved to know I have someone in Guatemala who is making sure my case does not get lost in the shuffle.
I did my research on adoptionsupervisors.com and on the lawyer and his firm assigned to my case. They are legitimate and in certain cases such as mine have been able to help where my agency and lawyer assigned to the case cannot because their relationship with PGN has gone bad.
I understand this is your site and you have the responsibility to approve and/or deny any posting, however, if anyone enlists any group or services without doing their own research then I say that is their problem not yours. I would have not known to contact this group without the comments on this site and have benefited from contacting this group. I sure hope the other adoption-supervisor group is as deligent and professional as the lawyer I have been working with from adoptionsupervisors.com.
Again, if you choose not to post this comment I honor your choice.

Posted by: Laurie at July 29, 2006 05:50 PMI agree...everyone needs to do their research. Unfortunately, many would construe information on my site as research. Regardless of everything else, having the same name is distressing and the fact that they simply popped up on my site through fraudulent postings (meaning that the postings were not from who they claimed to be from) is not exactly reassuring.
For the sake of those who are still waiting in PGN, I will not publish anymore discussion on this organization vs. that organization until I *personally* have more information at my disposal.
What is previo??? I have never heard that before since I started this adoption.
Posted by: Misty at August 17, 2006 07:29 AMHi Laurie:
I am sure you would have brought your baby home since your comments of July 29, 2006.
I am in the same predicament as you were. My case for my baby girl is in the Minor Section of PGN since January 2008. My agency seems to be unable to give me definite answers as to what is happening.
Could you PLEASE le me know ho I could get ahold of adoptionsupervisors.com; and what are their fees.
