Ethica and the Evan B Donaldson Adoption Institute are holding a conference called "Ethics and Accountability:Doing it right makes a lifetime of difference" near Washington DC on Oct 15-16. I am planning to attend. They have offerered a group rate to us if we can put together a group of seven or more.
Information on the conference is available here: http://www.ethicsconference.net/. The group rate wil be equal to the early registration prices of $175 for one day, or $275 for both.
If you are interested in attending, please contact me, Kevin, here ASAP: http://www.guatadopt.com/MailMe.php or at kevin @ guatadopt.com (remove the spaces in my e-mail address).
Posted by Kevin at September 24, 2007 10:33 PMan important item to mention is that there is a "Guatemala Forum" on Monday evening 10/15, at which JCICS and UNICEF representatives will be present to discuss the current situation in Guatemala as well as 'going-forward' concerns. This is our chance folks - the Guatemala adoption community's opportunity to communicate directly with UNICEF on the topic of Guatemalan adoptions!! If you can attend, please do!

Posted by: Lisa at September 25, 2007 08:41 AMThe group rate is $137 for one day and $275 for both days. We encourage GuatAdopt fans to come to both since DOS will be presenting on the second day. This is a great opportunity to make your concerns known. I hope to meet some of you there!

Posted by: Elizabeth at September 25, 2007 09:28 PMI received my conference info via email this evening. I thought you all might be interested in the following note:
'We are offering a special session titled "The Future of Guatemalan Adoption" on Monday evening. This forum, being held at the request of UNICEF, will allow attendees a unique opportunity to dialogue directly with the key players about the future of adoption from that Latin American nation.'
Is anyone else attending?

Adam Pertmann tonight on the CNN segment mentioned the Ethics & Accountability conference in DC and the special session on Guatemalan adoptions. Should be a very, very interesting conference...
