Viva Colom! Adios Oscar....

Today is Inauguration Day in Guatemala as Alvaro Colom becomes President. As people with a great deal of love for Guatemala, Guatadopt extends its strongest well wishes to the Coloms and the Guatemalan people. Forgetting about a adoption for a minute, he has a difficult task ahead in trying to improve the quality of life for his citizens. And as it relates to adoption, we're here to help in any way we can. We also vow, no matter what happens to adoptions, to continue to fight and raise aid to support children in Guatemala.

I am excited and enthusiastic to watch what this administration does in years ahead.

Paz!

I have heard good things about the new president. I am very excited to see how he gets things done. My agency seemed to think that he would implement a policy for "re-submittal" for those of us who have been KO already in the first few weeks of his term. Has anyone else heard that? What are you guys impressions?

We are hopeful for the future of Guatemala and ALL Guatemalans.

Guatemalans and the American families who love Guatemala are hoping for some healing.

Wishing you great success in the years to come President and First Lady Colom and Vice President Rafael Espada.

As a Guatemalan living in the U.S. but who still has a large family and a baby in Guate, I pray that the new President will make changes that will be favorable for the people of Guate including all of our babies who are waiting to come home. God bless.

Hi,
I was there visiting my son the 10-14th. We were at the Intercontinental Hotel and it was very exciting!! Our street was closed and there was security and guards everywhere. We had metal detectors added and loads of International Representatives at our hotel and the Westin across the street. There were camera crews waiting at the hotel doors trying to catch a glimpse of officials from around the world.

I am hopeful that things will be good for Guatemala with the new administration. Each time I go I learn more and love more about the amazing country of Guatemala. I am so grateful and proud to have two beautiful children in my family from that wonderful country.

we too want to wish the VERY best for Guatemala's future - it is a country like no other and one we love dearly - the country that allowed us to become parents, the country that treated us with warmth and respect every time we have visited and the country that will now forever be a part of our family
