The DOS has an annoucement to this effect: http://travel.state.gov/family/adoption/intercountry/intercountry_3948.html
In addition, the amparo questioning the four page form was rejected. SO... Form is set. CNA location is set. CNA members are set. Not much time left so get them cases registered!
Does this mean if we were already registered with 4 page form that our attorney needs to show proof or our registration by the deadline to the new office? In order to be grandfathered?
Confused!
Thanks
WHOOHOOO!!! THANK YOU GOD!!! ALL GOOD NEWS, THE LONG FORM IS NECESSARY, TO HELP FIND THE KIDNAPPED KIDS, BUT, HOLDING BACK OUR REGISTRATION TILL AN INVESTIGATION OR CONSTANCIA IS RELEASED, WAS NOT NECESSARY.
THE PGN HANDLES ALL 2007 CASES AND THEY HANDLE INVESTIGATING DISCREPANCIES IN CASES.
So, this sound like good news overall!!!
Thank you Guatadopt for all you do!!!
Posted by: Airstar98 at February 8, 2008 01:38 PML,
Yes, the attys need to take their copy to the CA to get the registration number.
This is making my head swim. Does that mean if we got resubmitted to PGN *PRIOR* to December 31 we still HAVE to be registered with CA? I want to make sure that my "agency" realizes the necessity of this. Thanks for all you do!!!
Posted by: guatemom at February 8, 2008 01:49 PMSo if I'm reading this correctly all 2,000+ cases that were submitted to the CNA for registration will have to be presented again to this new office? I sure hope our lawyers are ready to stand in line and get this done.
Posted by: Joan at February 8, 2008 02:02 PMMy atty just said that there is a very long line and she is still waiting in it.
They are expecting to get the registration numbers today!!!
I sure hope this happens :D
AND yes, CA said they will be open over the weekend and everyone has to go again to present the forms, in order to get their registration number, AND, those not registered at the CA office by the 12, will not be grandfather in.
So, everyone do what you can to make sure you got registered!
Posted by: airstar98 at February 8, 2008 02:46 PMDoes anyone know for sure if PGN is going to accept the registration # as the ticket back into PGN? Does this mean we don't have to wait for the constancia??
Thanks, Jen
Posted by: Jen at February 8, 2008 02:51 PMKevin,
Any word on the street regarding possibly extending this deadline if the CA can't accommodate everyone (as in, if the lines are so long that lawyers are unable to register prior to the 12th?)
Seems like registering thousands of cases in 4 or 5 days is a bit ambitious. Let's hope it all gets done now that there is a plan.
I have the same question as Jen, Is the registration no. enough? Is the constancia still needed? I understand by reading the post on ADA that the registration will be sufficient read quote from ADA's post below:
"each case will be given a registration number that will prove to the PGN that the case has already been registered"
Can anybody confirm this?
I'm still a bit confused. I am out of PGN, have BC and I'm not sure about Passport. Do I need to register too? Because I signed my POA in Jan 2007- so technically before Dec 31, 2007 as it states, but am I far enough into the process or is there one more thing to stall my Orange?
Thanks
Kevin,
Thanks for your tireless effort. It seems that everyone is very excited about this, but I have yet to see confirmation on this - is the registration number assigned by the new CA the "ticket" that we need to get back into PGN? While it is wonderful that we finally have clarity on the new CA, the office, and the form, have we actually gotten a final confirmation on what PGN will require to let us back in? (i.e. are we at the end of the wait, or is this just more of the waiting???) Thanks again for all that you do - guatadopt is my (only) source of information....
My agency is saying they can't check on our registration with CA because the attorneys are too busy registering people to be bothered to tell their clients/agencies that they have done so. We'll be told after the 12th if we were registered. We'll just have to pray the attorney takes care of us!
Posted by: Jess at February 8, 2008 10:08 PMJess, I belong to the same agency. I can't believe we are not being told if we are registered or not. I know the attorneys are busy, but I would really like to know before it is too late.
Posted by: Becky at February 8, 2008 11:26 PMI too am wondering if there has been any word about what exactly PGN will require - will the registration number be enough??
JESS,
our agency is available to us all the time. At the CA they have an office time, it should not be a problem for your agency to call the lawyer in Guatemala after the CA closes the window and keep you informed on the progress. This is a special situation and everybody has to go the extra mile, the agency itself has to be ready to inform the parents even if they have to work later than the usual office hours.
Personally, I have the cell. phone number of the owner of my agency and I am free to call her any time and I have the lawyer cell. phone number and her e-mail address.Since I'm fluent in spanish, often I call her in the evening to know about any news.
My agency never dropped the ball, has always been ready for us and I can not immagine of a higher professionality. I tried first hand that, despite
what someone says, there are agencies that really care about the orphans.

Kevin, Kelly:
Based on the newest ADA post (2/9), it appears that we as PAPs are being asked to petition our DOS, representatives, etc.
Any advice on how to do this as quickly and constructively as possible? We are ready to help, just tell us where to start!
Posted by: debbie at February 9, 2008 07:55 AMOur agency says even though cases will get registered still need that certificate
to my knowledge none given out yet and need this to get back in PGN
Latest post from this morning (Saturday, 2/9) on the ADA website is concerning -- what do you make of this?
Posted by: Dianne at February 9, 2008 09:43 AMI just read the 2/9 ADA post. this is scary. what in the heck is going on - why cant they just register the cases already. this is so far beyond ridiculous I just want to scream. I just cannot believe it. I am so sad and distraught thinking that these people's antics will stop me from bringing my son home.
