Waiting Angels Sentenced

Simone and Joe of Waiting Angels were sentenced today. 11 months of probation for felony tax evasion with charges to be reduced to misdemeanors if they comply with the terms of their probation. Restitution to their victims will be determined on April 30th.

Here's a story on it: http://www.macombdaily.com/stories/040908/loc_local04.shtml

Absolutely ridiculous, shame on Michigan! Again, the states prove that they are totally unwilling to truly press these issues on a criminal level!

Unbelievable.

I am very, very disappointed in this light sentence. Where is the justice in merely giving them probation? LESS THAN THREE YEARS before they can re-enter the adoption business? Let's hope that the federal racketeering lawsuit against them is more successful.

This just doesn't seem like nearly harsh enough punishment, does it? I know that there will also be restitution but still. This also seems odd to me:

"One of the conditions, not working in the adoption industry, will be in effect for an additional two years."

I would think they would be stripped of any license in the adoption industry for much longer than that.

I am just sickened that they tried to sue the clients they scammed for defamation. Wow. I feel just horrible for anyone who had to deal with WA, but I'm also very proud of everyone who stood up to them. It wasn't easy, but now the adoption world knows about them and how they conduct business. Thank you so much for fighting the good fight.

The Montel Williams Show will be airing a follow up to their original story next Monday.

Why is it that people (like WA and others) can use and abuse PAPs, children and the adoption world for their personal gain? They seem to go without punishment. For our judical system and government merely puts these people in "time out". Is it too much to ask for them to at least "clean the wall" while they are sitting in time out?
