A Prayer Request

Today I learned that Mateo, the son of a friend of ours and Guatemalan adopteee, was diagnosed with Leukemia. This is very hard to swallow as we went through our daughter's adoption along with his and I can not begin to imagine the pain and stress his parents must feel. So please, say a prayer for his treatment to be successfull and with as minimal discomfort as possible.

For those of you who know Mateo and his parents, please refrain from posting their private site in order to respect their privacy.

Gracias y paz!

Please tell your friends that our family will be praying for Mateo. Our Beloved Daughter Clare was dignosed with Leukemia (A.L.L) in November of 2006. She is doing well she has 41 weeks of Chemo Left, we count down every day. It's a long hard road, but our children are soo strong. They will be in my thoughts and prayers through out the next months.

Mateo is in our thoughts and prayers. My husband also had leukemia(CML) and this year we celebrate 10 years since his bone marrow transplant. God bless their family.

Clare's mom - your's is the third case we know of, then, because another good friend of ours, and Mateo's, was also diagnosed with ALL a few years ago. She went through the treatment program and is now doing very well. She bounced back from the treatment and is growing, growing, growing. If I hadn't seen her go through the treatment, I wouldn't have believed she'd gone through that!

It is strange, though, to have these three cases. Mom of the little girl just mentioned said that there are only 3000 cases a year and yet here are 3 Guatemalan babies diagnosed with the disease.

We'll be praying for your baby as well.

Clare's mom...my daughter is the other child adopted from Guatemala who was diagnosed with ALL. She completed her treatment in November last year and is doing well today.

Here is her CB site: Caringbridge.org/visit/marielle

Please come over and take a look, there is life after cancer. Feel free to email me, if you'd like.

We will also say a prayer for them. Can anyone share with us all any of the symtoms that we might look for? Are there any signs that should alert you? I know nothing about it, but will certainly do some research on the subject.

Kevin,
I will add him to my prayer box. We have friends whose son was diagnosed last year and he seems to be responding very well to treatment. I will hope that for your friends as well.

I have said a prayer for Matteo and his family. Matteo, by Jesus' stripes we are healed so I pray that you will be healed indefinitely! I also pray that the parents will be comforted during this process and that the doctor's would receive an added measure of wisdom.
God bless!

As a fellow cancer survivor, I know that the diagnosis can be scary however they are doing phenominal things with medicine/research/care. Mateo and his parents will certainly be in my prayers and I want to reassure them that all will work out. Take it day by day. God Bless!

Mateo is in our prayers!

Our son (bio) is a cancer survivor. He says, "Go get 'em, Chemowarrior!"

The strength and resilience of children is something we can all learn from.

God bless and hugs,
Mera

P.S. I'll start a thread in the general discussion board, so those of us with patients/survivors can connect.

I used to be a volunteer Wish Granter for the Make A Wish Foundation. The strength, courage, and resilience of the children was incredible. They were the ones giving me support, not vice-versa.

Just one more example of how we can learn from children!

Paz,
