Site Problems

We've been experiencing some site problems that I have been cleaning up every other night. Unfortunately, I am not going to be available this weekend. There is a very REAL chance that the site will go down because of these errors or you may have some problems loading the site. This is what happened last weekend right before I discovered the Core dumps (very large error logs). Please understand that I will attend to it as soon as I can.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Does anyone have any news about cases? Ours is in the 2nd review of PGN, and we know the birth mother interview went 'fine'. But the stats of 80% previos for the first 50 cases released (according to info I read here) is horrific and cruel. Just anxious for news from anyone....

waiting,
We also had a birth mother interview that "went well." We called and were told we were with the 2nd reviewer, and were notified of a previo today...

our cas is in the second review, and we had our birth mother interviewed ,our agency had more that one cases with interview ,just two were able to go thru the others went with previos our agency is telling us that the odds to be without previos is almost inexistant

According to a yahoo group - there were a bunch of PGN outs today. Anyone know how many? Once a week? THat's it?

Posted by: waitingfor2 at June 5, 2008 10:48 PM

Have a great weekend and Blessings to you for all your hard work. You will never know what a God send you are to s many.

Hi Kelly/Kevin,

Every time I post, it says "Internal Server Error" - this might explain the "Core Dumps". This is also why you get multiple posts of the same thing from the same people - they think their post never went.

I hope this is helpful.

Another useful thing for the running of the site could be to put "Rules and Reasons" instead of just "?" next to "Comments". You'd get fewer bad ones that you have to plough through. I'm certainly clearer about things now I've found out what "?" is.

Dear waitingfor2, which Yahoo group is that? You should ask them for details if you can. I'm member of 2 in the UK, neither of them heard anything.

But once a week wouldn't be surprising. Only just better than none...

We got out of PGN on Tuesday!!! BM interview was May 9th! I hope PGN gets their act together so we can all get our babies home!

Check out JCIS new post today. Says 230 cases will be released today (Friday, June 6) Yipee....I am hoping this is true!

Posted by: RENE at June 6, 2008 06:28 PM

We were on the 3rd desk when all this started. Our bmoms have not been called for interview. dont know of any previo yet. although I am sure its coming. Been in PGN since December! just waiting for some good news and going on 16 months since referral... our two little girls are the only thing keeping me going

EL,

I have found that when I get the "Internal Server Error" message and I hit refresh (f5), which sometimes gives me an option to "retry," then I will get the screen that tells me my post was received.

Human/Child Rights Emergency?!

At the current pace of Birthmother interviews when will they all be complete? It seems to me about 400 have been done, so the math says the interviews will take at least 6+ more months - and assuming most will have previos, add many more months to that. I don't think most of the Hogars, now with no income, have enough resource to care for the children for anywhere near that long.

Thanks Sheryl! I have worked out it goes anyway so now I just ignore it but some people might not and might keep sending - easily done.

Rene, I hope this is true, it would be fantastic. We've been at the final stage/OUT window since March.

Fingers crossed, everyone!

EL
EstamosEsperando is the yahoo group. Very nice people (especially the ones who are reading this comment b/c they post on both)

I have been in process for 14 months and it seems that most of those people have been in even longer than me.

pray for OUTS!
Jennifer

Airstar98, are you still there? Anything we should know?

Thanks Jennifer, since then the JCICS has posted on their website that another 260 have been "released" on Thu and Fri (about 80% previos?). No personal confirmation from anyone so far that I have seen, it usually takes 3-4 days to filter through to individuals. But surely, the PGN wouldn't just lie to the JCICS??? That would take the biscuit.

Posted by: EL at June 10, 2008 05:28 AM

Hi JOE, I have sent the exact same maths to JCICS before their visit to Guat. I just got a general reply, and their visit did kind of achieve something. Not much, but something. You should e-mail them the maths too, contact on their website. It doesn't hurt to make the same point again.

Ok, Here's first hand what's going on at PGN. I am in Guatemala city at this time. Out case was out of PGN on April 16,2008. We had the birthmother interviews and everything went perfect! So...We've been waiting and waiting and nothing. Out attorney would got to PGN and they couldn't help her with a realease date.
I went with her to PGN this morning and finally spoke with the guy incharge. After 45 minutes they found the file.

This is the way it's working. After our file was approved by PGN, it then went in front of SEVEN different reviewers!!! Out of all SEVEN, One found a signiture of mine that didn't look the same as the others. So, Our file has been sitting in a pile of cases that had something wrong with them. If I hadn't been there and was able to speak with someone face to face, who knows how much longer it would have taken. Even though I'm prepairing another document to replace that one and will have it there this afternoon, it still will take several weeks for them to release the case.

Why SEVEN reviewers after PGN approved?? So at this point each file is being reviewed maybe 15 or more times? I just don't understand.

Posted by: giving it all at June 10, 2008 01:41 PM

Hi Giving it all, it would be good if you sent your story to JCICS (contact on website). Still haven't heard of a single person out of that 260 who they say were "released" last Thursday and Friday, and it's Wednesday today.

Posted by: EL at June 11, 2008 07:37 AM

I am so sorry for the marathon this has turned into for the waiting families.

As for why PGN is now asking for several reviewers to review each file, I have no direct knowledge.

What I do know, is that in many situations, when a new process is introduced often a business, school, or corporation will have many folks look over the same information. This is used to set standards as for what does pass whatever "test" is being used and what doesn't.

Also, these types of multiple reviews are used to train in new people--although in that case, they could be using a "case-study" by using copies of previous "cases."

I'm glad you were proactive and didn't have to wait for them to decide to release your previoed file. Since you were there, couldn't you have just stated, "Yes, that's my signature." OH, wait. That would make sense.

Good luck,
Beth

El and Beth, I wish it were as easy as saying"yes that is my name" and change the document, but we actually spoke with the new guy in charge of PGN, He was very sorry and said that there will not be as many reviews for adoptive parents in the future. Although we will not have to start PNG over, he said it could stil take another month to process this one document, but then would be completely out of PGN!

Things are changing, but truthfully, if you do not go down and personally ask for your file and personally speak to the highest person in PGN that day, it's going to still be a very long process. Yes, I know it cost money, but the cost of keeping your child there and the time your missing bonding with them is a much greater cost! The more of us that show up and demand our files, the more files that will get out. Like us, there are many files just sitting in piles just waiting for someone to look over again and process. Please!!! If you can possibly go down and go to PGN and ask for your file, please go! We were able to correct our document in one day and got it right back in PGN. Go, Go , Go stand up for your kids! Help them and bring them home.
Giving it all!
