Adoption Blessings Worldwide has shut its doors. Their attorney apparently claims all cases will be completed with a new, yet-to-be-named agency. We no nothing more than what is this story:http://www.firstcoastnews.com/news/news-article.aspx?storyid=114031
Posted by Kevin at July 18, 2008 11:27 PMWe are a family that were with ABW before they shut down. Most of us are working directly with our attorneys in Guatemala or facilitators. Only adoptions that were NOT from Guatemala got turned over to a new agency. The whole closing is very ugly and there are a lot of allegations going around, so please pray for all of us that are still trying to get our children and for the children themselves that everything is resolved as quick as possible.

The information given here is not correct. I am one of the families that was with ABW before they closed down. All current files for Guatemala were NOT turned over to another agency. Only adoptions in other countries were turned over to the other agency...it is a little shocking that ABW attorneys released that information.
Most of us are completing our adoptions with our attorneys and facilitators. With everything going on in Guatemala regarding adoptions anyway, this is a bit of a nightmare, but I believe it is still in the best interest of all the families involved.

Justice is finally served!!! Let's just hope that another state doesn't open it's arms to Tedi and her corruptness like Georgia did. We were lucky enough to get our child home. Corrupt agencies deal with corrupt facilitators, so it's no wonder they had the issues they did. I hope all in progress get their children home...
Posted by: Erik at August 2, 2008 06:38 AMWe were with ABW, trying to adopt from Russia, our paperwork was sent to another agency but we were told that we would have to pay another agency fee in order to work with the agency. We did not get any money back from ABW and the "new" agency would only waive their application fee! We requested that our paperwork be returned to us. Why would we let a corrupt agency choose who we should work with?? Especially if the money we've already paid is not being applied to the adoption!!!
Posted by: Disgusted PAP at August 10, 2008 07:26 PMdoes anyone know what is going to happen to the files for the adoptions that they have from the adoptions that were already completed? And what about post placement reports????? I wish I could get some straight answers. I think my son was the last child to come home through them before they closed?! but I don't want our personal paperwork/files just anywhere!

I can't answer what happens to the files. But... You can file with the CIS to get back all original files the gov has from your adoption(see posts on CIS). Post-placement reports: don't worry about them. Those are not a legal requirement of Guatemala or the US. They were only an uneforceable agency requirement.
The agency likely doesn't have any paperwork you'd ever need.
