JCICS in conjuction with Ethica and NCFA are trying to get a grip on how many in-process cases there are in order to help them with their advocacy efforts. They have a survey they are requesting all in-process PAPs to fill out. I would lay faith in their promise that personal info won't be shared and recommend everyone fill it out.
You can find info and a link to the form here: http://www.jcics.org/Guatemala.htm
Posted by Kevin at August 14, 2008 09:47 PMThere are children at Semillas de Amor who already have their US Visa, but they are prevented by court order from leaving the country.
How should they let JCICS know about their cases?
Posted by: Beth in MN at August 15, 2008 12:44 AMI am glad that these orgnizations are taking an active interest in our cases.
I would also love to see something similiar to last fall's Guatemala 5000 initiative.
I was curious why the children from Guatemala are back on the precious.org website. Does anyone know if they are starting new adoptions soon?
Thank you.

When GUatemala opens up under the new system. Do you think adoptions will run more efficient? And do you think adoptions will move quicker through PGN? Has anyone completed a adoption under the new system? Or if they are close to completing a adoption under the new regulations. Are you running into any problems?
Thank YOu
Anyone have information on current processing times on birth certificates from Mixco?
Has anyone heard that CR/RENAP is offering to expedite the processing for an additional $550?

The only CNA adoptions that have been done are two domestic ones.
Guatemala's CNA has not yet announced, if and when, it will re-open, nor has it announced what the process will be. After that, the USA has to decide if it believes that the Guat process really is Hague-Compliant. If all of those things happen, then Guat will be open to US parents again. In that case, the CNA will be in charge, and PGN will have nothing to do with adoptions.
Posted by: Beth in MN at August 19, 2008 06:19 PMWe are in the process of adopting from Guatemala. The DNA has been done with a 99.9 match also the BM interview has been done. ok. However, I just found out my adoption agency was denied accreditation in March 2008.Will the adoption be stopped by this? Our baby was referred in 08/15/07 and the I600a was approved in 10/07 and it's time to renew some other documnets. If the notary expires on our documents will they have to be re-done?
Posted by: Diane Melt at August 21, 2008 11:27 AMDiane, Your case would be considered to be grandfathered therefore, it should not change anything for your adoption process. Keep your I-600a form current and your I-171H. If you don't know when these will expire, ask your adoption agency. It took me almost 3 months to get my I-600A form renewed. If you know your documents will expire soon start trying to renew these before they expire. Good luck, Delilah
Posted by: Delilah at August 22, 2008 10:03 PMI just need to vent: my case was approved in PGN on 18 June 08. We were submitted to civil registry and after 2 months, told that they had switched to RENAP. RENAP then said the "original" adoption decree was "lost" and that we needed to get another "original" from PGN. PGN said it would take 10 working days. That was almost 4 weeks ago and still no adoption decree. Now we are told that RENAP is only open on tuesday and thursday and that it is taking anywhere from 4-7 (or longer) weeks. I am so frustrated I could cry! I feel for each and every person stuck somewhere in the process with Guatemala!
