Kevin,

Thanks for posting this. We just had to re-do our FP for the third time, thankfully our 171-H doesn't expire until June 2009. Hugo better be home well before that!

When you do your first extension of the 600a, how long do they extend it for? There's nothing on the form instructions that indicate the extension period.

I haven't seen much chatter about RENAP lately, does anyone have a gauge on how long it's taking for RENAP to process birth certificates?

Hi AC,

We are waiting for our daughters birth certificate for 5 weeks now.I was told yesterday that it is taking about 2 months to get them but once you have that everything else is pretty quick. Let's hope that's true.

Thank you so much for posting, we too have used up our free extension and our latest does not expire until May of 09 but I guess I'm concerned that the I800 is taking 6 months, that means we really need to get started on this in December for something that we may or may not need, this is horrible....

Michelle,
How long was your free extension for?
Thanks!

AC, I do believe the extentions are good for another 18 months. HTH

IMPORTANT! The US is NOT OPEN to Guatemala so you CANNOT do an I800.

this campaign is VERY VERY important to all of us PAPs with Guatemala. Please participate and have all your friends and families as well.

If we cannot do more than 1 extension (which my family has already had to do) and our children are not home by the expiration we will LOSE our children. USCIS must allow us to continue to do extensions (and of course pay for them) until our children are home. There is no other way.

China is a Hague country so the families in line for China could lose their place in line and it will cost them money to re-do the I800 but they will not LOSE their children. WE COULD IF USICS DOES NOT ALLOW EXTENSIONS.

I urge you all to help. A few phone calls and emails will be huge!
Thank you
Ann

PS Extensions are the same amount of time as original---18 months.

I just received an email from JCICS that the campaign was successful! That's one piece of good news for all of those still in the process. I hope you bring your children home as quickly as possible!

Thanks for the replies! We PAPs gotta stick together :)

We were close to receiving our BC in September, but someone at the registry make an error on something (details are vague) so we had to go back to PGN, get the adoption decree re-ratified, a resolution done by the registry, then ratified by RENAP central, THEN we can apply again for the birth certificate - can you believe it!? All of this will take at least another month before we can even apply for another birth certificate, so then count 2 more months on top of that and then another couple of weeks on top of that! All when we could have had her home by now if that $#!@ at the registry hadn't messed up the document!? Unreal.
