DOS Listserve for In-Process Families

DOS is creating a listserve in order to better communicate with in-process families. If you are one, I'd highly recommend signing up for it.

HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO GIVE THE SAME INFO to get any results??? I am 1 of the original hogar raid back in 5/2008. The DOS continually states that they can't do anything to expedite or influence our cases. SO here is my INFO again!! It will go NOWHERE!! AGAIN!!

My heart goes out to you, Jestry, we have been in the process for 3 1/2 years and we wonder too, will it do any good??? But, of course, we will fill out the form just in case.

We were sent beautiful pictures of a little girl in Guatemala who needed a mommy and daddy 12/06. We were already preapproved by our adoption agency and a steadfast flow of paperwork began.

Due to the Hague uprising and goverment changes, it took until 3/08 to get her INTO the PGN. We have weathered everything from the CNA ordering birth mother interviews in 8/08; which Susana promptly took care. On top of a fabricated request at the PGN that the grandparents wanted the child back came in 5/09. Susana knew this was a lie and went to the PGN who obviously was trying to stop this adoption and with no surprise there were no requests from the grandparents in the file. 6/09 brought Susana to have the birth mom and grandparents to go to Mixco city. The grandfather told the judge of the wishes have the child become adopted as she was so taller, thus better lifestyle than their six year olds where he resided due to inadequate diet and living standards. The birth mother, of course, was of the same, have the child remain for adoption because she too, knew that this little girl was flourishing already in the care of Susana and the adopted life she would have would could only bless her with additional advantages.

It was only the judge's ruling in Mixco City, in 7/09 who since the PGN decided to put the case in suspension, to rule it pulled out of suspension by the PGN and CNA.

Now, in August 2009 we have this nightmare of our daughter, again post poned by PGN's outlandish removal and suspension of the adoption.

In 2-1/2 years since we began this adoption, we have had the initial home study with 3 updates. Three trips to the Immigration Department 1-1/2 hours away for fingerprinting and updates. Three filings of the I-171. Consider all the time, plus the financial burden the stagnation in processing this adoption we have endured.

Enough lame excuses and tardent adoption processing is enough from the Guatemalan government, PGN and CNA.

Our child, plus the other children of Primavera deserve to go home to their parents, to flourish and become a person with a blessed future and to make a difference in their own lives plus maybe become someone who can make history. This will never happen if these children remain in the shackles of a tyrany adoption process.

Please move the paperwork, these are children who DESERVE to know why they were given into adoption ....to a family waiting; not the Guatemalan government.

This is a rollercoaster of emotions. We have been in process with our little girl for over five years now. We are getting very nervous. Please Lord bring our daughter home!

Yes, Iam so tired of the myriads of things WE have to do!! Our paperwork has been redone seven times-never used, HS redone 7 times, not used, fingerprints done 7 times for what... I dont know, as criminals give fingerprints and never seem to have to have them redone and WOW they are still the same prints that go with the SAME person forever(sarcasm!!!)Anyway 7 years of doing the same things only to be put off once again ANOTHER 6 months BECAUSE of paperwork that needs to be handed in to the judge and it takes WHAT 5 minutes to rule...and say Oops missing another piece of paper. In 6 months I'll let you know in the next 6 months what you need after that.I think we are the LONGEST adoption standing 7 YEARS!!! Does anyone of IMPORTANCE see that!!Ive talked with Guate and US congressmen, Guate and US attorneys, friends of friends who said they knew this person or that person. On and on!! We used to joke that Bella would be 10 when she came home. It actually looks like it will be reality if it happens at all.
And yet MORE paperwork more stuff for us to do.
Not ONE single person has been able to help our case for the last 7 years. But "OH" there has been ONE person that has let it collect dust for 7 years(the JUDGE!)Does he sleep soundly at night??? Because I DONT!!

I do thank the people that have always held me up they were a god-send.

Do I sound bitter... your stinking right I do. Our beautiful little girl has been given up and abandoned by her BM,ripped from her loving fostermom after 4 yrs. Put in Bosque hogar for 2 years and found out she could have remained with the FM. Then moved again to another hogar. ALL in the best interest of the child!! Hmmmm does that sound funny to you?? That's what this is all about the best interests, right???

Dear families that are going through this mess,

You are not alone in your prayers and hope as you wait. There are many of us including my family who pray for you daily. It wasn’t long ago that we were going through the same situation. Our hearts are saddened by what you and your children are going through especially so close to the end when Guatemala says that these children are yours. It is absolutely ludicrous and you have every right to be angry. Continue to hope and know that there are so many of us praying and writing our government.
