Eventually, all good things must come to an end. And at least for 2010, there will be no Guatadopt calendar.
The truth is that the calendar, while awesome once done, has been a tumultuous process that we were not able to manage sufficiently.
Every year we have ended up with many extra calendars, each of which taps into the revenue stream. Getting them out on time, or even close to the holidays, has been a stressor. Every year something goes wrong with printing/shipping. And every year someone threatens to turn us in as a fraudulent e-commerce provider.
A few months ago, my dear friend who managed a lot of it, including the graphic design, passed away. Admittedly, my reaction to that was in part to not face the reality that it was just about that calendar time of year.
Long story short, it’s really too late to get it done now. We have no designer. And the finances of it have not raised substantial revenue for our non-profit endeavors.
You will be hearing more soon about what the future holds for Guatadopt and The Do Good Charitable Foundation. In the meantime, we’re sorry that we just can’t deliver a calendar this year.
Lo siento...
Oh, I love my calendar but completely understand. You and your team do such good work and I appreciate everything.
Posted by: Am at September 21, 2009 09:37 AMSorry for your loss Kevin. I was always amazed at how you were able to pull off such a tremendous undertaking each year and I understand as well as appreciate the effort. It was a beautiful piece of work for which I am grateful to have particiapted in.
Thank you to those who worked so hard for the enjoyment of us all.
So sorry to hear, my first year of eligibility for our son so pretty disappointed, BUT understand! We will all just have to direct our calendar money to other Do Good projects!
Posted by: Michele at September 21, 2009 02:04 PMSorry to hear this, but I understand Kevin. Abe loves looking at ours, but at least we'll have the calendar from our agency to hang on the next year.
We appreciate everything the Guatadopt and Do Good team does!

Posted by: Gonzo :) at September 29, 2009 05:22 PMWhile sadden to hear cause we love the calendar and for the last three years our daughter was placed on the calendar, We UNDERSTAND and respect that decision. I am very thankful to be apart of this in the past and maybe again in the future. Thank you for all that you do. :)
(((((HUGS)))))
Even though it's too late for this year if there is enough interest and Guateadopt decides to continue this project sometime in the future. I for one would gladly give back some of my time to help create the calendar content. I am sure more of us would be willing to pull together and make the load easy. The big question is is it financially worth it?
