Forums Hacked

UPDATE 11/2: No update really. It may be a little while before forums are back up. Sorry...

I was out of commission today from 7 am until now, 10 pm. So I just discovered that our forums have apparently been hacked. I know nothing else on this other than that our hosting service has been having issues with the server we're on (which is why everything went down Wednesday for a few hours).

Once they are back up, I will post it here. Until then my recommendation would be not to go to the URL for the forums and certainly don't click on anything that is there now.

Personally, I don't think it was Saudis at all. I think it is Unicef trying to stop us from posting our annual Halloween handout ;-) For the record, that was a joke.

You are hilarious! Thanks for the laugh!

Are we ok to go onto the forums yet?

Posted by: Chrissy at November 1, 2009 03:24 PM

what a hassle for you guys at Guatadopt! Thanks for all you do.

Posted by: sjbj at November 2, 2009 01:22 PM

I have registered several times for the forum and never been accepted that I can tell (never rec'd email):-(
why is that?

Posted by: Dale at November 3, 2009 01:59 PM

One can only wonder WHO would like to see these forums in jeopardy, or not up and running, so more Guat. info can be shared?

So, is anyone else going into withdrawal from lack of forums??? Still praying for those waiting and hoping when things are back up and running we will see some good news!!

Posted by: Michele at November 5, 2009 11:54 AM

Yes, withdrawl from lack of forums. Would like to know what is going on with my Guatadopt family members. I think of you all every day. So glad the calendar for 2010 is a GO!

Posted by: Kathy at November 6, 2009 01:24 AM

yes, I'm in withdrawal too

Yikes! I need these forums up. The U.S. Embassy is refusing to process my 2nd DNA request. They issued us an orange slip, but they are now telling us we cannot move forward indefinitely. However, I am seeing abandonment cases being issued pink slips. Am I the only one?

Posted by: Lisa at November 6, 2009 10:20 PM

Are you planning to continue with the forums? I know you've considered eliminating them before, and with this latest issue, I'm now wondering if you've decided to just let them go.

From Guatemala 900 campaign of JCICS.

2nd DNA testing temporarily halted by US
By Gutemala900 • November 10, 2009

From JCICS :

It is Joint Council’s understanding that the U.S. Embassy in Guatemala City is not processing 2nd DNA tests at this time. It is our understanding that this essentially halts all adoptions in Guatemala at the 2nd DNA test. Further, we understand that this is a temporary halt, as the processing of DNA is being reviewed and, perhaps, altered. Joint Council is consulting with the U.S. Dept of State and the U.S. Embassy in Guatemala City to gain further understanding of the situation. Joint Council will update our membership and our website as information becomes available.

feels like everyone has given up on the few waiting cases...

Judges unwilling to make decisions
Family Courts are closed
USE stops processing 2nd DNA
Forums our Only source of info, no one cares to fix....

I am pretty sure that I got a nasty virus from the forums and as of yesterday, my computer is ruined. Porno and all kinds of gross stuff is all that shows up on the computer and i can't use windows, internet...nothing. yuck.
Has anyone else had these problems?
I miss the forums and my computer!

Tired of trying,

I'm really sorry. I cna tell you that the reason our forums are not up has nothing to do with us getting rid of them or not wanting them up. I am completely ignorant when it comes to the technology. Kelly has the knowledge but she is completely tapped on time. I ideally, we'd have a service doing this for us but since Guatadopt has no revenue stream, there are no $$ to hire someone.

Hopefully everyone is aware of the forums at They are not as cool as ours, but still great!

Kristin - I have not heard of anyone else having any issues following our forums being hacked.

Tired of trying,

My computer got hit by a virus, sounding similar to yours, over this past weekend. Don't know the origin, but do not think it is connected to this site.

Posted by: Lilian at November 10, 2009 08:04 PM

I don't think anyone got a virus from the forums. I'm Pandora and I didn't get anything.

Kevin and Kelly you are awesome.

The front page still works and as you said there are multiple forums which if youre a waiting family I'd be surprised if you weren't a member of several. Hang in there.

Posted by: lisa at November 10, 2009 08:43 PM

Don't worry Kevin, we can just hijack the comments thread :)
I miss the forums as well because the in-process folks seem to comment on Guatadopt's forums rather than on

Lisa, I am sorry that you have hit another barrier in your process with the halting of 2nd DNA. It just seems like there are constant barriers being erected as soon as you clear a step.

Posted by: crayolagal at November 10, 2009 09:31 PM

Ugh!!! Stopping the 2nd DNA maybe be a good thing in the long run, but if I was caught in the middle I am not sure what I would do. Hopefully, the resolution will come quickly and will not hold families in limbo long!

Any idea when the forums are going to be back up??
