Posted on behalf of Guatemala 900
Dear Friends and Family of Guatemala 900,
This is the most urgent cry for your love and support we have ever put out!
Please read this TODAY and put us on your calendar for Tuesday, December 1st and Wednesday, December 2nd. We are launching a campaign that could change the future of many of the children waiting to join their permanent families. We need you to be part of our collective voice to bring children home this Christmas!
We are requesting the immediate support of The Guatemalan PGN (Attorney General's Office) and UNICEF to fulfill our mission to get as many children home as possible by the end of the year. Some of these kids are the legal children of US citizens and possess US Visas, and still, they are held up by bureaucratic delay and unable to join the loving families who have been awaiting them for over 2 years.
please go to the Guatemala900 site for details. Thank you!

Keep up the good work Guatemala900! Thank you for all that you do for the kids who are still waiting to go home.

Even more reason to support the campaign NOW.
Dec 1st is EMAIL day. Dec 2nd is PHONE day.
Posted by: CC at November 30, 2009 12:44 PMHi,
I am calling and emailing on Dec. 1st & 2nd and supporting Guate 900 in every way I can. I would like to know if the news that Guatemala is reopening to 4 countries has generated any comments from the hogars in Guatemala? There are potentially families for the children. Can anyone in that community comment? Thanks.
I just sent off my e-mail. Good luck to everyone in the Guatemala 900.

Posted by: eb at December 2, 2009 12:16 PMI pray daily, and work on a weekly basis to help some of the 900 within my scope of influence. I am encouraged at the headway made at the UNICEF...IF they are telling the truth when they respond to you. No prejudice...just experience...Please be persistent, and friendly and don't make threats...but trust no one!!!
Anon asked to hear from the homes in Guatemala.
In regard to any country responding to the CNA's offer to start 4 pilot programs, we have heard nothing. BUT we hear nothing officially no matter what!
All we can say is we are encouraged by the CNA posting this much sooner than we expected. It can be taken as a signal that they want to get these children adopted!
But, possibly more pertinent to Americans who have an interest in adoption, is the side bar that says:
"American Families interested in completing a Guatemalan Adoption". ( my translation)
That post is only made in the interest of the American families...the 900. In it, the CNA is saying, basically, to please stay away from people who are asking you for money, and promising anything.
The CNA is not asking for bribes, and the people in the PGN who can actually help you are not asking for bribes. But a lot of people are asking for "fees" and other ways of saying money.
The CNA is willing to talk wiht Americans...but very reticent to talk to many of the lawyers...so if you are using a lawyer, and you feel you are not getting a fair shake at the CNA...get rid of the lawyer. This sounds extreme, and the lawyers will clearly disagree...but READ the side bar!!!!
We here in Guatemala continue to do all we can for the children at risk. We appreciate the Guatadopt forum, as one that is fair and balanced...more so than others that say that, even!!!
But Please do not take wholesale the slant given to you by people who are profiting by your misery. Pleas ego to the CNA directly.
The 900 is doing what they must. But they must understand the atmosphere that has been created in Guatemala...Not by them, and not by UNICEF, but by people who have hounded poor women, and have altered documents, and have in extreme cases even stolen children.
They are the problem.
Help the CNA help you. Go to them directly.
