Swimming Pool Safety

Okay so it's an odd time of the year to post this and as the weather near me is quickly cooling, darned to those who can use this now :-) But one of our readers runs this site with tips on pool safety for kids and you never know when reading something like this may end up saving a life. So why not post it?

Thanks Kevin. Good to review anytime. I am in the North and it is very cold but travel to warm areas as well as swim in indoor pools.

ALWAYS check what kind of filtering system pools have. The older pools with the drains on the bottom can be deadly. Kids get stuck to them by the suction and drown and you can't pry them loose! They make safety caps for them now.

Same thing for Hot Tubs - a local girl drowned on Graduation Night while at a safe, non-alcohol party at an exercise/sports facility when her hair got stuck in the intake drain. They couldn't shut it off (no emergency button) or free her in time. Tragic.

PARENTS BE DILIGENT!
